Language Delays
Children with expressive and receptive language delays often appear “shy” or “quiet” in their familiar settings. They can also “act out” due to difficulty understanding everything that is heard. Language delays can impact all areas of learning due to difficulty expressing themselves orally, as well as comprehending stories, directions, feelings, and more. Early identification and remediation are critical in maximizing your child’s learning potential.
Articulation Delays
Children with articulation (speech) delays are often more difficult to understand than other children their age. While all children develop at different rates, many children are delayed in producing sounds which significantly impacts their speech intelligibility. This can lead to frustration and negative behaviors from the child. Many children respond well to early intervention for articulation delays.
Fluency Disorders
Fluency disorders (often called “stuttering”) significantly impacts a child’s self-esteem and ability to communicate. Early intervention is recommended to teach fluency strategies to reduce or eliminate dysfluencies.
